Stewardship Short Stories
on Time, Talent and Treasure
We all enjoy the bueaty of the arrangements on the altar. But how many know that these arragements are designed and arranged by a person who is totally selfless. Marie Abraham has been "dressing the Altar" for several years. She does it with practically no help other than her dedication and talent. Though the Altar and Rosary Society pays for the flowers, Marie goes to the nursery and picks out what she needs brings them to the church (with the help of her husband Sam)and makes the arrangements right on the Altar. She asks for no compensation other than the Grace she receives from God for her tireless work. A true servant of God, may our Lord continue to bless you for your dedication to His Altar.

You seldom see her, and seldom hear her, but there is a parishioner who believes in time, talent and treasure. She gives it all. Jessie Martinez has for years tended to the needs of the deaf community here at St. Rose. Through sign language, she has taught many classes, given instructions for the deaf to receive the Sacraments, has arranged for retreats for the deaf community. The deaf community has its own celebration of the Eucharist on the second Sunday of every month. It is Jessie who prepares them for this celebration. This is such an edifi cation for all of us and a perfect “fi t” for the use of one’s time, talent and treasure for the Kingdom of God

Hardly anyone could hear the celebrant at Mass in the church. He was giving a very good sermon too. Only with the realization that the microphones were not working properly, someone thought to call on Wilbur Brown. And, for many years since, if any microphone needed an adjustment or there was a program in the hall which needed the use of microphones, the call went out to Wilbur Brown, and he willingly responded.. He has given his time and talent freely and expertly and his church envelopes have come faithfully each Sunday.

Good Stewardship means use of our time, talent and treasure. Rosalina Natividad gave us a perfect example of this. Quitely, many times each week, she would spend time straightening up our pews, arranging the mislayed books and disposing of kleenex. Rosalina was 83 years old, and she only wanted to keep the “House of the Lord” clean and feed stray cats. Unfortunately, Rosalina was struck by a car and killed as she went to feed her cats. We pray for her and ask God to give her eternal rest. We are grateful for her time, talent and treasure.
